Jam Filled Croissants

COOKING TIME: 1 hour
SERVING SIZE: Makes 24 Croissants

Ingredients

  • 5 cups of All Purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of Milk
  • 1 cup of unsalted Butter
  • 1 Tsp of Jam per Croissant
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 6 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tsp of dry yeast

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan add butter, 5 tablespoons of sugar and milk(leaving 1/3 cup for later). Heat at medium low heat until butter is melted
  2. In bowl add the rest of the milk, yeast, and sugar. Allow the yeast to completely dissolve by stirring it then let is sit for five minutes.
  3. In a large bowl add the flour allow the edges to create a hole in the middle then crack 1 egg into the whole and sprinkle the salt in. Pour in the warmed milk, sugar, and butter micxture into the flour. Add the yeast mixture next and stir well.
  4. Knead the dough with your hands until dough is no longer sticky.
  5. Wrap in a wet paper towel and allow the dough to rise for forty minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 and pull out a baking sheet.
  7. Cut the dough into thirds and make each third a circle.
  8. Flatten the circle and cut into 8 triangles.
  9. On the fatter part of the triangle add the jam or other filling. And roll the triangles inward toward the point.
  10. Place each croissant onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, you should have 24 in total.
  11. Beat the second egg and brush onto the croissants before placing in the oven.
  12. Bake for 16-18 minutes.
  13. Let cool and serve!
